Sam when did you start Windsurfing and how did you get into the sport?
I started windsurfing when i was about 7 years old. I actually started in Poole Harbour , a great place to learn for a small boy. It was my dad that encouraged me to take this sport and I progressed from there really.
What is it about Windsurfing that’s got you hooked?
I just remember getting plaining for the first time, it was an amazing feeling and made all the weeks of attempting this pay off.
In Windsurfing what's your biggest achievement to date?
I think result wise it has to be UKWA Freewave Junior Champion or being in a PWA event at 15 years old. Competing on the PWA as a young lad with my idols was something of a "total life experience!"
What's your favorite Windsurfing spot?
I would have to say South Africa for sure. Its such an amazing place to windsurf. Surf in the morning and then windsurf all day that's my dream.
What's your favorite maneuver?
One handed ponch, burner, double flaka , so many moves are great fun because they are all different
OK what's your favorite Windsurfing moment?
This is a hard one, if have had so many amazing times windsurfing. If I had to choose one I would have to say this one time in South Africa when the wind dropped and the waves went super glassy , it was 4.8 weather and I had my JP twin fin. All I can say is it worked like a dream.
So then with all the harsh landing when you train how do you keep fit and healthy?
I try to keep windsurfing as much as possible. Also I surf a little to so this keeps me active when the winds not blowing. Also I try to eat healthy but its not always an option when you have come in after a mast high day at Sunsets and your craving some proper food.
What other places have you visited so far, and is there any where else in the world you are traveling to this year or would like to?
I am going to Baja , Mexico this April so that should be pritty sick. I would love to go to Western Australia and Maui after that.
Last Word!
Thanks to my sponsors for helping me. The kit is amazing and the guys are there for you. Cheers guys.
