Another Year Another National Windsurfing Festival?
I must say this years National Windsurfing Festival was the best so far. With over 320 competitors and great racing over the two days, Alan Cross and his team must be proud of what they have achieved for another year.
NeilPryde and JP decided to move out of the main tent for this year so we could spend more time getting people onto the new 2011 kit. Over the two days we had over 30 people try some of the new JP Board's and NeilPryde Sails, one of the best demos of the year.
Jake competed at The Farmers Jam, a slopestyle competition held at a dry slope in Norwich, UK.He rode well and was a bit nervous going up a category this year to the 12-17's, he held his own, pushed him self hard and took some big falls, Dendix (known in the UK as the diamonds of death) is not the most user friendly surface to ride on and takes no prisoners, I have broken both of my thumbs on the stuff, years ago.

THE RECESSION has put a real squeeze on the sponsorship available to aspiring surfers.
But North Devon's Anthony Rofner, at the age of 39, proves that it is never too late to push your surfing and be rewarded for the dedication.
When he turned his back on football, leaving Weymouth at the age of 25, he looked for a new sporting challenge and was bitten by the surf bug in Bournemouth.
"I realised within a month that I had no future as a surfer in those weak south coast waves," said Rofner.

Just back from Poland - Wonderful Roads!
Perhaps the most memorable part of going to the European Laser Standard Youth Championships at Gdynia in Poland was the somewhat traumatic drive there and back on the corrugated Polish roads and it was not only my mother's driving. Certainly shook up my reactions fin readiness for the competition!
On July 2nd it was my 12th birthday and my Mum and Dad put a little comp for me, at The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead to celebrate. As it was my birthday, I asked a my sponsors and some of our friends in the industry, if they could give me some goodies to give out on the night. They included Buff, DC, Flow , Electric, The Snow Centre and my friends at Burton, Monster Energy, Westbeach, Skullcandy, Forum, Eleven, Whitelines, FBBB, Bern and SCUK. So a big thankyou and many, many thanks for sending me out outerwear, stickers, hats, t-shirts, hoodies and loads of other lovely goodies.
A Family has just Kitesurfed Across the English Channel.
Ralph Crathorne says: “My daughters Lucy (21), Polly (16) and I (51!) made it across in 3 hours 40 minutes on 21st July. We think this breaks three records; as far as we can tell they are the first women to kitesurf across the channel; Polly is the youngest person to do so; and I think I am the oldest!”
National Junior Squad Topper sailor, Bryony Bennett-Lloyd, achieved another excellent result over the weekend, at the Craftinsure National Series event, held at the 2012 Weymouth venue. After 2 days intensive racing in superb breezy condition, she achieved 2nd place female competitor, out of a fleet of over 220 boats.

Timo Mullen scores some great summertime waves in NW Donegal, after a summer of great surf and sunshine in Ireland it was a relief to see some much needed wind and waves. Normally the reefs are firing on this size swell but the way the tides were on this day made the hollow beachbreaks the place to be. Timo was out on his new 2011 Starboard Quad IQ 82 set up as a quad and on his new 2011 Severne 5.3m Blade. Loads out enjoying the conditions.
Timo: ”This was easily the best day of the summer in Ireland, i sailed four days in a row, cross off perfection every day! We made the most of the weather by camping out, the West Aussies would have loved it! Really stoked with the new 82 IQ Quad, i can simply point the board where i want it to go and everything else just happens, point and shoot windsurfing, the board is just so easy to sail!”

SUPER LIGHT WIND 90 V154
PLANING IN ALMOST NO WIND
Planing is what makes windsurfing so fascinating. How many times did you sit on the beach thinking – there is wind but it’s just not enough to get planing. Those times are over!
The new Super Light Wind starts planing in a wind range so far exclusively reserved for Formula windsurfing. With sheer envy we had to watch Formula riders planing when there were no white caps in sight.
After last week’s fast and furious day of racing at Club Vass, slightly lighter winds presented the opportunity for the more technical sailors to shine!

Once again the day dawned quiet and tranquil here in the magnificent Bay of Vassiliki. However the morning calm was quickly replaced by a gusty Northwest wind, giving testing side shore racing conditions. With gusts up to 15kts and lulls at around the 8kt mark it proved difficult even for the best.
The slight drop in intensity meant that the competitors could sail comfortably on their preferred gear. The course layout remained the same, and the stage was set for an entertaining evening on the water.
A huge fleet of around 40 competitors from Neilson, Wildwind and Club Vass all lining up for what was once again one hell of a race! Last weeks convincing winner Niko was looking slightly nervous this time around, with the lighter winds and all of his 108kg the big man knew it was going to be a tough race to win!!
